I work primarily with couples who want to strengthen their relationship, improve communication, and stay connected through the many stages of life together. I also work with individuals navigating relationship challenges who are seeking greater self-understanding and relational confidence.
My work focuses especially on couples becoming parents, partners raising children while working to stay emotionally connected, and long-term relationships navigating changing roles, life transitions, or patterns of disconnection.
I have completed the Level 3 Practicum Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and use the Gottman Method in my work with couples. Grounded in decades of research, this approach helps partners understand their relationship patterns, manage conflict more effectively, and build stronger emotional connection.
As someone who has been married for more than 25 years and is raising teenagers, I bring both professional training and lived experience to my work with couples and families. My perspective is also informed by many years as a military spouse and the transitions that come with military life.
I offer both in-person sessions in Rancho Bernardo and secure telehealth sessions for clients throughout California. For more information about fees and insurance, please visit www.straustherapy.com.
